Certainty has no Ripple

Exploring Certainty and Doubt

One of the things that can be a challenge for all of us is discerning what different feelings 'feel' like. Well, that seems silly, doesn't it? How do you not know what feelings feel like?

Some days the best awareness we can have is just whether something 'feels good' or does 'not feel good' to us. Of course this is individualized for each of us, but we all know what it means to feel something we 'prefer to feel' or 'not prefer to feel.'.

Today we're going to talk about certainty, but we're going to look at it from a few directions. You might call that a 180, or you might call it what I like to think of it as, looking from the inside out.

The emotional context of the feeling is a really important thing to understand because whether you are aware of it or not, feelings are moving you around the playing field of your life. Not just today, but your whole life long.

So before we even look at certainty, we have to look around it at 'certain' and 'doubt'. This isn't a place where a dictionary definition really serves you, because it doesn't speak to the context of feeling or the shape of the dynamic you are experiencing. Though situations may vary, there are specific relationships to feeling that each emotion provides.

First, let's clear up one thing: certain has two distinct delivery mechanisms:

  • absence of doubt due to absence of fear (preferred), and

  • absence of doubt due to amplification of fear (not preferred).

Certain holds the spectrum ends, or the points of 'preferred' and 'not preferred,' and doubt is the interjection. So, in general terms, feelings come paired in union, and it is the predominant feeling that is the predictor of the emotional experience. In a way, this pair walks hand in hand along the tightrope, and the point at which doubt is evacuated is the point where certain lies, either preferred or not preferred.

Often people think of these feeling experiences as opposites, as if doubt is the opposite of certain, but that's not really how it works in terms of the energetics. They move together, all at once, towards the certain preferred experience, towards the certain not preferred experience, or ricocheting around in between.

Doubt is the middleman that lets the experience move in either direction, based on the feeling stimulus. And our habit in unawareness is to use doubt inappropriately, often as a means of justification in the act of undermining the self or others.

Preferred and not preferred are bound together, and each has a different activation point. At one end of the thread, there is the certain preferred experience. In this case, 'certainty' is expressed in the experience due to the absence of doubt because there is no fear.

At the other end, as fear continues to amplify, the field narrows down until the only expression that remains is the 'certain not preferred' experience. This experience expresses as the amplification of fear continues to clamp down, denying the potential of a 'certain preferred' outcome. This happens as a result of not allowing any alternative outcome to exist. This is where fear stabilizes into form.

Amplification of fear removes all doubt; you WILL see what you are looking for whether you like it or not.

So doubt is 'the play' in the line between certain 'certainty' and certain 'fear stabilized into form.'

So when things are really complicated in your life, and you are navigating through great fear or great apprehension, you have an absolute need to see things a different way. This is a must, despite all evidence to the contrary, and we'll talk about that too.

Resolve to see a different way, and you will find certainty instead of another shred of fear stabilized into form. You need to know that a path of congruence has more than one way to be achieved, and when you see it, you’ll know you are safe. Always safe, but until then, there are times you’ll feel like you’re hurtling through space, launched out of a missile bay, and this is what you need to know about that: put your feet on the ground.

You haven't been launched anywhere. It’s only an illusion of your mind. Literally, figuratively, stop your mind from heading down that trajectory, and it will vanish right before your eyes.

Remember, we are always talking about the inner landscape in these scenarios; you are the one that is holding every aspect active, no matter how it seems.

Let me tell you a story.

I woke up from a nap one day during a particularly difficult time in my life, and as I opened my eyes, I could literally see that every single thought or experience that was in motion in my life was held in animated motion by my own contribution to it. It was like the guy stand there with 43 different plates spinning, and the second he stops them spinning, they all crash to earth.

I saw myself take a single step without holding, or amplifying, or projecting the thought or feeling, and they all hung in midair for a second, and then crashed to earth, and there I was, in perfect stillness. Not a single distortion.

And that’s when I knew that the very next step forward would be only for me. And only in high worth, because when that finally happens for you, there are no longer multitudes of choices. There is only one clear path forward, and my friend, it will be flooded with light.

That is your crystal-clear point of certainty.

Certainty has no ripple. It’s like the knife slice through water on a perfect dive. In my mind, I see this like a penny dropping through an invisible layer in a black void. It doesn’t flip and spin on its way down; it’s a clear cut through space and time and nails the landing every single time without a ripple on the surface.

You’re always triumphant because the podium can only hold one certain set of skill sets to get you there: your own. And this, my friends, is where faith and trust take the reins.

SolePath is a shortcut.

If you have no other way of knowing, you better understand your own expression of experience to see 'where you are going' and 'where you have been,' and that's what we talk about here.

I saw it this way.

Feeling Words: Certain, Certainty, Doubt, Doubt in Cognition, Doubt in Awareness, Feet on the Ground (or boots on the ground)

Certain: An absolute.

Certainty: the certain preferred experience of only.

Doubt: A cognition of fear placed speculatively in order to purchase an alternative.

Doubt in cognition and doubt in awareness are different things.

  • Doubt in cognition is an amplification of an alternative dis-order (chaotic formation).

  • Doubt in awareness is the threshold of change; used as a diversion or change maker. It can be quite beneficial, but only in 'certain circumstances' and only 'during certain times'. This is where doubt can be used to break away from 'certain dis-orders' as in, "I don't think so, Batman!" These are experiences that exist as a result of being narrowed into a 'certain' expression. We'll talk about this more in terms of Grit and also Emotional Forbearance.

Feet on the ground (boots on the ground): Get anchored in some 'real time' experiences. The best option for anyone who is overactive in the mind is to get physically engaged in physically engaging activities. Go to work, go to the gym, move some dirt, wash the dishes, sweep the floor, go for a swim, a bike, and a paddle, sing a song, listen to music, write something down, check a few items off a list, go for a beer, have a laugh, hang out with a friend, be a friend, stay away from meditative spaces for a few weeks, and generally engage your mind in task related behaviours.

If you are unable to move in these capacities, you must find an alternative to distancing the mind from the experience so that it can be allowed to release and unwind instead of staying clamped down. Moving the needle a micro adjustment changes the game; the pendulum doesn't have to swing for change to happen, and honestly, small, measured steps are better for your own stability. When you take the big swing, you will be continuously fighting and engaging with an overcorrection of behaviour from multiple directions.

A little bit about Me.

My name is Janice Brown, and I am both a doctor of Chinese Medicine and a Reverend who writes and talks about life from a metaphysical perspective. My understandings of the Tao and Emotional Relevance come from these two veins of understanding. To me, the work I do is Spiritual Care.

I’ve been working with the Tao as long as I’ve lived; and so have you. Here’s what that means to me: I’m a problem solver and I use the Tao as a framework for my discussion. In my writing, I share with you how I use it, and you can decide if that’s helpful for you or not.

I write from the Heart in the moment, specifically from my point of view. You may not have seen it this way, but that's the whole point—to turn it around and look at it another way. ~ Janice.
