Hoooooph! Those critics are hard.

The hype, the amp, the fever pitch of emotion. The sideshow antics, the grand performance, the SLAP—what could be more enticing than that? That room was dripping with anticipation.

The Match. I watched the fight last night. I had no plans to; I didn’t even know it was happening til I got a text from one of my favourite people:

Her: “It’s FIGHT NiiiiiiGHT!!”

Me: “Huh? Who’s fighting? What does this mean?”

Her: “Mike Tyson and...

Me. (I hear the name of some guy I’ve never heard of.) My mind drifts; oh yeah, I did hear something about that.

I watched. I was curious.

What I saw was not what I expected. I won’t give you the play-by-play; you can watch that yourself. But what I saw was the energy of a Gladiator and the energy of a Warrior going toe-to-toe. And apparently ‘toes’ were a big part of this deal.

I’ll tell you that ‘no toes got stepped’ on last night. But there were hits. Lots of Hits!

At the end of 16 long minutes, I saw a resurrection of the era of gladiators and warriors in the way they were intended to be—a Gladiator raising the bar while a Warrior held his ground.

60 million viewers watching, a full four rounds while a mountain of a man took it on the chin 78 times! And still he stood. That is Mountain! Wow!

No chirping, strutting peacocks at the end of this match, just a still energy between the two fighters as they degloved (yawns the crowd). And that there was the moment I saw something unexpected flicker between the fighters under the amp of the crowd—Grace. Some words of respect, shared dignity for the experience, even gratitude for the opportunity. Brilliant.

How cool is that?!

I’m going to remember that fight for different reasons than the naysayer crowd. Me, I’m glad I saw it because I saw it this way.

Feeling Words: Gladiator Energy, Warrior Energy, Mountain Energy, Taking it on the Chin, Grace

Gladiator Energy: A fundamental nature of the Tao, known as behavioural patterning that experiences itself as worthy of raising the bar to a higher level of fulfilment. It is the energy of task completion and alignment with winning. It is also a relationship of the Tao energy known as SolePath, which is an energetic personality profiling tool used for the benefit of understanding the self.

Warrior Energy: A fundamental nature of the Tao, known as a behavioural patterning that can be recognized by sheer resolve and determination. It is a precise application of this energy that allows one to recognize who they are when they are resolved in a purposeful direction called a cause. It is also a relationship of the Tao energy known as SolePath, which is an energetic personality profiling tool used for the benefit of understanding the self.

Mountain Energy: Mountain energy is one of the primary building blocks of the Tao, it is a yin energy known as a Trigram. It carries the qualities and characteristics of Mountain in form.

Taking it on the chin: The experience of confronting a challenging ordeal for the benefit of knowing the self more profoundly. In some frameworks it means you will topple down the mountian, only to bounce right back up on top of it again. The moral amplitude to see it through.

Grace: The expression or experience of divine fulfilment in the every day moment. The presence of humility born from a battle hard won. The desertion of fear.

A little bit about Me.

My name is Janice Brown, and I am both a doctor of Chinese Medicine and a Reverend who writes and talks about life from a metaphysical perspective. My understandings of the Tao and Emotional Relevance come from these two veins of understanding. To me, the work I do is Spiritual Care.

I’ve been working with the Tao as long as I’ve lived; and so have you. Here’s what that means to me: I’m a problem solver and I use the Tao as a framework for my discussion. In my writing, I share with you how I use it, and you can decide if that’s helpful for you or not.

I write from the Heart in the moment, specifically from my point of view. You may not have seen it this way, but that's the whole point—to turn it around and look at it another way. ~ Janice.
